South Coast Fire

When the fires in 2019-20 were burning right to the beach along southern NSW and Gippsland coasts I found this image on twitter which reminded me of the limpid river and coast landscapes of early white artists in Australia like Conrad Martens, but instead of mists and clouds it was smoke from these devastating fires.


This is a photo under regular lighting but this painting incorporates some fluoro pigment so it is supplied with a custom UV lamp
